Gnoppix will provide you with a secure, anti-forensic, and anonymous operating system considering all features that a person who is concerned about privacy would need.
It is very easy to use: all you have to do is boot it up on your PC via USB drive, and you should have a fully running operating system with established VPN connection, Tor connection, and DNScrypt service running. There is no setup or Linux knowledge required from your side; it is secure by default.
The entire OS is functional from your temporary memory RAM, so once you shut it down, no trace is left behind - All your activities are wiped out.
Gnoppix was first publicly announced in June 2003.
Gnoppix is and has always been based on Debian Linux with parts of Kali Linux. Gnoppix comes complete with a set of additional software repositories containing the latest 64-bit versions of the latest desktop environment/framework/toolkit.
In addition to the famous Gnoppix Desktop, we will also provide a Docker version of Gnoppix. Currently, we are working on a Gnoppix version for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets as well.
Gnoppix System Requirements when installing on Desktop
There are two ways to use Gnoppix Linux. One is to live boot from a DVD/USB, and the other is to install it on a desktop/laptop or microdevice.
The minimum requirements for your system are RAM, a hard disk, and an internet connection (for updating the OS). A DVD/CD drive or writer is not necessary, but you need a USB port for attaching external media.
Gnoppix Linux started in 2002 with the focus of allowing users to run a Linux operating system for any purpose without installing it or making any changes to the computer's configuration. My focus this time was that you can use it as a rescue system to troubleshoot and fix common boot problems, such as repairing the file system, restoring the boot loader, editing configuration files, or resetting the administrator password.
Gnoppix protects you against surveillance and censorship. Gnoppix encrypts communications and does not share your data with Amazon, for example. Gnoppix is a free project, independent regardless of political decision-making. We have no contract with Google, for example, and do not have to use their web browser because they give us money. We always choose the best solutions, and you don't need to do anything. It is our default.
With more than 30 years of experience, Gnoppix's goal is to provide complete internet anonymity for the user. Not just a Tor web browser where your ISP can still profile your behavior. Gnoppix ships with several own-developed applications, all pre-configured with security in mind. ALL traffic is anonymized. Gnoppix comes with a selection of applications to work on sensitive documents and communicate securely. Everything in Gnoppix is ready-to-use and has safe defaults. Gnoppix as a game console and even Gnoppix as an alternative mobile operating system are projects which have already started.
