Let's break down why you might want to use a VPN at home, like a little shield for your internet browsing!

Imagine the internet like a highway. Anyone can see where you're going (websites you visit) on this highway. A VPN acts like a tunnel, hiding where you're going from everyone else. This is important because some people might want to peek at your internet travels:

  • Nosey Neighbors: Even on your home wifi, strangers nearby could potentially snoop on your activity if your wifi isn't secure. A VPN creates a private tunnel just for you.

  • Curious Companies: Advertisers love tracking your browsing habits to target you with ads. A VPN helps keep your browsing history hidden from them.

  • Prying Eyes: In some places, governments might restrict what websites you can visit. A VPN can be a way to access those blocked sites (but be sure it's legal where you live!).

  • Slowdown due to ISP Throttling: In some countries, internet service providers (ISPs) limit (not rate limit) the speed of your internet connection (traffic) during peak hours (rush hours). For example, they might prioritize browsing the web over online gaming, meaning browsing might be faster than online games during these times.

Most importantly, a VPN can stop your internet service provider (ISP) from seeing your online activity. They might track what websites you visit and even sell that information. With a VPN, your ISP just sees encrypted data traveling through the tunnel, not the actual websites you visit.

So, a VPN offers an extra layer of security and privacy for your browsing, whether you're at home, work, or using public wifi!

 

Our investigation into the data collection practices of public VPN services yielded inconclusive results. While there wasn't concrete evidence of customer data being collected, transparency was lacking. Company's claim of anonymity was further undermined by the fact that some countries mandate log retention for a certain period. This inconsistency, coupled with the unwillingness to provide clear insights or substantiate their claims, raised concerns.

Consequently, we opted to develop our own VPN service to ensure user privacy and data security.
